A hot seller’s market and local development struggling to keep pace has led to a 9.5 percent increase in Williamson County home values, Williamson Chief Appraiser Alvin Lankford said.

The average market value of a home within the county increased this year to $253,819 from $241,860 last year, according to preliminary figures from the Williamson Central Appraisal District.

Home values in Travis County rose by an average of 9 percent for 2016, as housing demand continues to be fueled by the region’s job and population growth, the Travis Central Appraisal District said Monday.

The average market value for homes with a homestead exemption rose to $387,537 from $355,312 last year, Marya Crigler, chief appraiser for the Travis Central Appraisal District, said in releasing the preliminary figures.
